'a unique and special place to stay and open all year'
Chy Bowjy is a delightful barn conversion situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in West Cornwall. It is owned and run by Judith Smalley who provides a very warm welcome and makes each guest feel special.
The barn complex has lovely open rural views across surrounding countryside and Mount's Bay to the southwest. The property is set in four acres of land, comprising both formal garden and paddocks. Whilst the location is extremely peaceful, it is only 3 miles from the bustling town of Penzance and 5 miles from the popular resort of St. Ives. There are many beautiful beaches and coves to explore, coastal path to walk and hidden corners to discover. The west of Cornwall is rich in prehistory and a wonderful example of an ancient village is on the doorstep. Chysauster village was occupied mainly in the Romano-British period and evidence of the courtyard houses can still be clearly seen. A fascinating place to visit.
Chy Bowjy is an ideal place in which to start your holiday to the Isles of Scilly. The heliport is only a 10 minute drive away and the Lands End Airport a 30 minute drive. Transport can be arranged to take and collect you and your car can be safe here rather than incurring car park fees.
Animal lovers will feel at home as, apart from the abundance of wildlife, Judith has horses, dogs, cats and chickens. Stabling is available if you wish to bring your horse – there is some wonderful riding country around the lanes and over the moors.
There are many good pubs and restaurants in the area, but why not have dinner at Chy Bowjy. Judith is an accomplished and gifted amateur chef with many accolades to her name including having been a regional finalist on Masterchef. Ingredients are sourced locally (and organic wherever possible). Meat is from the local farms, fish from nearby Newlyn, vegetables from the kitchen garden and eggs from the resident hens.
There is plenty of parking space at Chy Bowjy. Guests can be collected from Penzance station.
Please note that a no–smoking policy operates in all areas within the house.
