Pre-Arrival

You may contact Chy Bowjy by telephoning +44 (0)1736 368815 or by email jj@jjassociates.me.uk. Chy Bowjy is located in the countryside between Penzance (3 miles) and St. Ives (5 miles). The nearest public transport (bus) is 1 ½ miles away with the main train station being in Penzance. Newquay airport is approximately 50 minutes drive from the house. Arrangements can be made for guests to be collected from Penzance station. Taxis can be arranged to collect guests from any location.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

There is ample car parking at Chy Bowy on a tarmacadam drive. Access to the house from the driveway is on an upward sloping granite pathway. The drive and path are both lit at night.

Main Entrance

The main entrance into the house is via a porch and lobby. There are small steps into both the porch and lobby. The floor in the porch is tiled and the lobby has a wooden floor. Guests are escorted to their room when facilities and other points of interest are described.

Double Room with Private Bathroom

The double room and private bathroom are situated on the ground floor of the house. Access is from the kitchen, through a door, up a step and then through a hallway. The bedroom is double aspect with views of the garden and is tastefully decorated in blues and creams. This room is fully carpeted and centrally heated. Facilities available in the room are television, radio, bathrobes, tea, coffee, mineral water, biscuits, sweets and writing paper. There is an overhead light as well as occasional lighting on the bedside tables and dressing table. The modern bathroom is next door to the bedroom and has a bath, power shower, basin, heated towel rail, heater and WC. Fluffy towels and an assortment of toiletries are provided. The floor is tiled.

Drawing Room

Guests staying the double room have the use of the beautiful drawing room which is situated upstairs in the house. At the top of the stairs there are two steps down into an ante room prior to entering the drawing room through double doors. This stunning room is very large, triple aspect and has views over the surrounding countryside and Mounts Bay. There are a variety of comfortable sofas and chairs, television, SKYand wood burning stove. The room is fully carpeted and centrally heated.

Courtyard Cottage Suite

The courtyard cottage suite is situated on the ground floor of the house and is reached by going through the kitchen and into the conservatory. There are two steps from the conservatory in the courtyard cottage suite. The suite is a self-contained unit consisting of double bedroom, sitting room, bathroom and kitchen. The beautifully appointed bedroom has a double bed and is fully carpeted. There is overhead lighting as well as occasional lighting on the bedside cabinets. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a television, SKY, cd player and is fully carpeted. Lighting in this room is provided by wall lights and table lamps. This room is double aspect and looks out onto the courtyard garden. The modern bathroom has a shower, basin and WC and the floor is tiled. Fluffy towels and an assortment of toiletries are provided. The heating in the courtyard cottage suite is provided by night storage heaters. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the kitchen together with biscuits, sweets and mineral water.

Dining Room

The formal dining room is situated on the ground floor of the house and is where guests eat breakfast and dinner. The room is double aspect and has many lovely pieces of furniture in it. The flooring is wooden with a Chinese carpet in the middle of the room. Special diets and allergies can be catered for.

Garden and Grounds

Chy Bowjy is situated on four acres of land comprising formal garden and paddocks. There are various areas within the garden where guests can sit to enjoy the views. The pathways are either granite or paved. Access up to Chysauster Ancient Village can be obtained through one of the paddocks.

General

  • A No Smoking policy operates throughout the entire house.
  • Mobile phone reception is not good at Chy Bowjy, therefore guests may ask to use the landline if necessary.
  • Members of the Chy Bowjy family include a springer spaniel, a cat, chickens (who provide the eggs for breakfast) and horses.
